This performance at Lord's will help Mohammad Amir start afresh and be even better in life according to Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq.
Misbah-ul-Haq lauded Mohammad Amir for his comeback performance at Lord's. He was all praise for the impressive pacer and said Amir could start a "new life" now after he sealed the victory for Pakistan last night at the Mecca of cricket.
The last time Pakistan played a Test at Lord's against England back in 2010, Amir took six wickets for 84 runs and secured a place on the dressing room honours board.
But that feat was utterly overshadowed when it was revealed the 18-year-old had deliberately bowled no-balls as part of a newspaper 'sting' operation. But, that achievement was soon overshadowed by the spot-fixing scandal that banned the teenage sensation from cricket for five years. He was accused of bowling deliberate no-balls which came out in the open because of a 'sting' operation carried out by the newspaper.
Along with new-ball partner Mohammad Asif and then captain Salman Butt, Amir was given a jail sentence along with the five-year ban.
Amir, who served three months in an English young offenders institute, returned to international cricket earlier this year.
However, this was his first Test appearance since 2010 and he sealed it in style when the 24-year-old castled last man Jake Ball to secure a 75-run victory with more than a day to spare.
"That was a special moment for him," said Misbah, who had a memorable Test outing as well as he scored a century in his first Test at Lord's.
"That could be the start of a new life. And I think, I hope he'll perform like that, and proves to everybody (that he can) just be really a good man, a good cricketer and good human being now. He's so lucky he got another chance, now it's a new life for him," Misbah added.
The veteran skipper also predicted the left-arm quick would only get better in the rest of the four-Test series after overcoming the emotional hurdle of his Lord's return.
"He will definitely get better because sometimes there is some sort of mental block, because that had happened here, especially at this venue. So that obviously comes into your mind. Now it's over he can really be more effective in the Pakistan team," asserted Misbah ahead of the second Test at Manchester's Old Trafford, which starts on Friday.
